      Park Leslie Bedford
      RICHFIELD SPRINGS - Park Leslie Bedford, 84, of Woodside Avenue, died on Sunday, Jan. 3, 1999, in his home.
      He was born on Feb. 25, 1914, in Onawa, Iowa, the son of the late James R. and Ethel Hoar Bedford.
      He was raised and educated in Iowa and was a graduate of Iowa State University.
      On Feb. 10, 1940, he married El"izabeth "Betty" Belshaw in Crownpoint, Ind.
      He had worked as an engineer for the Commonwealth Edison Company, Chicago, Illinois., and then went on to Washington, D.C., where he worked in the now defunct Signal Corp. He later worked as chief engineer for the Department of the Army, retiring in 1971. That same year he moved to the village of Springfield Center, where he was a member of the Springfield Center Volunteer Fire Department. He moved to Richfield Springs in 1990, and was a member of the Utica Computer Club.
      Surviving him besides his wife of 58 years, Betty, are three children, William Bedford of Thurmont, Md., Catherine Ray of Frederick, Md., and Barbara Shirey of Walawala, Wash.; one sister, Faye Terry of Minneapolis, Minn.; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
      A memorial service will be held later this spring, at a time and place to be announced.
      Funeral arrangements are with J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 5 West James St., Richfield Springs.
