  [[ Obituary: Maine Sunday Telegram (Portland, ME) - October 29, 1995 Deceased Name: DOROTHY L. HARRIS DEVOE HOSPITAL EMPLOYEE, ENJOYED GARDENING Dorothy L. Harris Devoe, 83, of Portland, formerly of North Yarmouth, died Friday at a Portland hospital after a long illness. Born at Perham, a daughter of Irving J. and Annie Anderson Harris, she attended schools in Washburn and Caribou and was a graduate of Caribou High School, where she played on the girls' basketball team. Mrs. Devoe was employed for several years as assistant housekeeper at Pineland Center in Pownal and then at the Osteopathic Hospital of Maine in Portland (now Brighton Medical Center). She was an active member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Hollis. She was a former president of the North Yarmouth Garden Club. A special friend was Fran LaCourse. Surviving are two sons, Gary A. Sr. of Yarmouth and Garth E. Devoe of Portland; three daughters, Mrs. Richard (Joyce Lawrence) St. Pierre of Augusta, Mrs. Murton (Carolyn Horr) Leach of South Portland and Mrs. Richard (Gloria) Pettengill of Cumberland; two sisters, Marion Gale of Keene, N.H., and Mildred Ouellette of Bath; 23 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Lindquist Funeral Home, 37 Portland St., Yarmouth. Burial will follow in Walnut Hill Cemetery in North Yarmouth.
