Mrs. Schmalzried Rites Are Monday. Funeral services for Mrs. Emma Schmalzried, 74, Levering, who died Friday night at Cheboygan Memorial Hospital where she had been a patient for six weeks, will be held at 2 p. m. Monday from the Levering Methodist Church. She was the widow of Theodore F. Schmalzried who died Feb. 18. Mrs. Schmalzried was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Carlton and was born June 13, 1879 in Bliss township. She was married in Petoskey Sept. 27, 1898 and lived in Levering. She was a member of the Levering Methodist Church and the Mackinaw City Order of Eastern Star. Surviving are a son Mervyn, of Levering; two daughters, Mrs. John Harcourt and Mrs. Gordon Marshall, Levering; six grandchildren; four great-granchildren; two brothers, Samuel Carlton, of Carp Lake and George Carlton, of Mackinaw City; three sisters, Mrs. Catherine Schmalzried, Levering; Mrs. Carrie Miller, Bell, Cal.; and Mrs. Cecil Gould, Carp Lake. The body will be taken to her home Sunday morning where friends may call. Rev. Leon Schaffer will be in charge of services and burial will follow in Carp Lake cemetery.
