Newspaper date: August 7, 1940
George Franklin Howard, 80, who was born in the house that now stands at 344 W. College Ave., and lived there all his life, died in the same house early Thursday following a short illness. A monument engraver by trade, Mr. Howard had worked for various companies in the Waukesha for many years before he opened his own business. Failing health forced him to retire about 10 years ago, so he closed the business, but continued to live in his birth place. He was a charter member of the Waukesha Eagles Club. Mr. Howard leaves five daughters, Mrs. Morris Reeves, Pewaukee; Mrs. William Haig, Chicago, and Mrs. Andrew Cleveland, Mrs. George Horr, and Mrs. Claude Zahnzinger, all of Waukesha; and five sons Robert, Frank, James of Waukesha; Joseph, [of] Madison; and Richard, [of] Chicago. Funeral services were held Saturday from the Weber Funeral Home to St. Joseph's Catholic church at 8 am, with burial in the church cemetery.
