      Zona Youngbauer - Obituary
Veryle Zona Youngbauer, 89, died June 3, 2008, of natural causes following a brief stay at the Billings Clinic.
Veryle was born October 3, 1918 to Fletcher E. Horr and Lula B. (Larsen) Horr Emery at Carlyle, Montana. She attended and graduated salutatorian of Beach High School in 1936. Veryle married John H. Youngbauer on June 24, 1942 in Miles City, Montana. To this union, three children were born.
During World War II, Veryle served as a telegraph operator for the Milwaukee Railroad, traveling eastern Montana for that job. Following the war, John and Veryle resided in Miles City, where their children were born. In 1962 they moved to Billings to run a contract hauling business for the Billings Gazette and the US Post Office in eastern Montana and northern Wyoming. Veryle served as a partner/bookkeeper for that operation. She also worked in the service industries related to banking and lodging.
Veryle's pleasures in life were: crossword puzzles, newspaper reading, country and western music and a life-long love of the mountains and camping. She had a very special interest in and gained great pleasure from watching and feeding birds. Along with John, Veryle delighted in following baseball ? from the Billings Mustangs (with box seats to be close to the action) to the Atlanta Braves. Of great importance was her involvement and membership at the First United Methodist Church. Her greatest happiness came from family gatherings and watching her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren grow and learn.
Veryle was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John, an infant daughter, Terry Jean, three sisters and one sister-in-law.
She is survived by her son Micky Youngbauer and wife Jean, daughter Rozelle and husband Don Derryberry; Grandchildren: Beata Ferris and husband Guy, Nicola Maurer and husband Adam, Natalie Gregor and husband Dustin, and Nathan Youngbauer. She has six great-grandchildren: Abby and Jack Ferris, Isabella Maurer, Xavier and twin sisters Trinity and Vala Gregor; as well as four brothers-in-law from John's family; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be 10:00 am Saturday, June 7, 2008 at First United Methodist Church of Billings, with Reverend Tim Hathaway and son-in-law Reverend Don Derryberry officiating. Memorials maybe made to the First United Methodist Church Memorial Fund (2800 Fourth Avenue North, Billings, MT 59101), Yellowstone Valley Audubon Society (P.O. Box 1075 Billings, MT 59103-1075), or the charity of one's choice.
