      Deceased Name: RAYMOND E. CUMMINGS
      Raymond E. Cummings, 87, of Nash Road died Wednesday at a Portland hospital.
      Born at Albany, a son of Stephen E. and Mabel Baker Cummings, he attended Kennebunk and Portland schools. Mr. Cummings worked in the grocery business for First National Stores in Portland. He also worked for the former White Brothers stores in Cape Elizabeth and for A & P in Portland.
      Mr. Cummings owned and operated Ray's Cash Market on Sherman Street in Portland. He also worked for the John J. Nissen Baking Co. and delivered in the Brunswick area. Later he worked for S.D. Warren Co. for 26 years, retiring in 1973.
      He moved here in 1948 from Westbrook, where he had owned and operated Ray's Bike Shop before moving it to Windham.
      Mr. Cummings was a member and past chancellor commander of Piscatiqua Lodge, Knights of Pythias; former member of the Triangle Club and was instrumental in its development; member of Windham Drifters Snowmobile Club; the Maine Snowmobiler's Association; Pine Crafters; Good Sam Club; and an honorary member of the Lake Region Good Sam Club.
      He enjoyed fishing, boating, camping, motorcycling, snowmobiling and visiting coffee shops. His CB handle was ''Putt Putt.''
      Surviving him are his wife, Ethel L. Horr Cummings of Windham; two daughters, Nellie R. Knight of Windham and Elizabeth R. Cummings of Gray; two grandchildren, Jennifer R. and Caleb E. Cummings, both of Gray.
      A graveside funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Smith Cemetery, Windham. The Rev. Fred Harter will officiate. Arrangements are by Dolby Funeral Chapel, Windham
