Deceased Name: CYRIL F. GEARY, FORMER COURIER-EXPRESS EMPLOYEE
Cyril F. Geary, 68, a former employee of the old Buffalo Courier-Express, died Thursday (Dec. 3, 1998) in Sheridan Manor Nursing Home, Town of Tonawanda, after a short illness.
Geary began working at the Courier-Express in 1946. His employment was interrupted in 1951 by the Korean War. He served with distinction in the U.S. Army with the 10th Cavalry Division, was wounded in combat, and then returned to action.
In 1953, he returned to the Courier-Express, retiring as an account executive in 1973.
During the next few years, he worked as a salesman for the Emulso Corp. In 1981 he began working as a sales manager for the Erie Fence Co., a position he held at the time of his death.
Geary was a bowler, golfer and fisherman.
In recent years he spent time in Florida, delivering Viking yachts on the east and west coasts and in the Florida Keys.
He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in the Town of Tonawanda, Post 416, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the 49ers Club.
Survivors include one son, Timothy C. of Kenmore, and one sister, Jean Hoar of South Buffalo.
Prayers will be offered at 9:15 a.m. Monday in Dengler & Roberts Funeral Home, 3000 Delaware Ave., Kenmore, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:45 in St. John the Baptist Church, 1085 Englewood Ave. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Lackawanna.
