Deceased Name: DOROTHY HOAR LARRACEY 1914-2005
WATERVILLE -- Dorothy Hoar Larracey, 90, of Tampa, Fla., died Wednesday, Feb.16, 2005.
Dorothy was born Nov. 26, 1914, to Ray and Dola Colson of Island Falls. Shortly after graduating from Island Falls High School, she married her high school sweetheart, Herbert "Mike" Hoar, of Island Falls. A son was born in 1936.
Dorothy became a nurse's aide at the local hospital and also was the organist for the Island Falls Baptist Church. In 1954, they moved to Waterville. Dorothy attended nursing school and graduated as a licensed practical nurse. Dorothy was employed by Sister's Hospital until the completion of Elizabeth Ann Seton Hospital, where she was employed as an LPN for more than 21 years.
Dorothy loved nursing; helping and caring for people that needed help became her life's work. Mike passed away in 1958 of a cerebral aneurysm.
She met John Larracey in 1975 and married in 1981.
Upon retirement, Dot and John moved to Tampa. They were devoted to each other and enjoyed many years of a loving companionship and enjoying their retirement in Tampa. Dorothy was returned to Waterville, where she will be buried in the family plot in St. Francis Cemetery.
Dorothy is survived by her loving husband, John; a son, Galen Hoar of Tampa; stepdaughter Eleanor Wilson of Fairfield; sister Helena Webber of Portland; brother, Eugene Colson of Hartford, Conn., and a very special niece, Judy Coronios of Portland.
A graveside service will be held at 9 a.m. Monday, May 2, at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, Grove Street, Waterville. Transportation arrangements were made by Marsicano-B. Marion Reed-Stowers Funeral Home of Tampa. Maine service arrangements are under the direction of Redington Funeral Home, 5 Park St., Waterville.

Eugene R. Colson, 93, died Oct. 24, 2009, at Martin Memorial Medical Center, Stuart.
He was born in Houlton, Maine, and lived in Stuart with his son, formerly of East Hartford, Conn.
Survivors include his sons, Eugene Colson of Stuart and Richard Colson of Calgary, Alberta; sister, Helena Webber; and two grandchildren.
He was preceeded in death by his wife, Irene Colson; and sister, Dorothy Hoar.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Treasure Coast, 1201 S.E. Indian St., Stuart, FL 34997-5688.
