Hoar, age 92, of Gap, PA, passed away on Sunday, November 4, 2007, at the Lancaster General Hospital. He was the husband of Zelma M. Zander Hoar with whom he celebrated 69 years of marriage on June 24th of this year. He was born in Gap, son of the late J. Willard & Iva M. Resser Hoar. He was a member of Bellevue Presbyterian Church of Gap where he was and Elder, former Sunday School Teacher, Clerk of Session and sang in the choir. George along with John Eby were founders of the Deerskin Leather Shop in Kitchen Kettle Village, Intercourse, PA. George also owned and operated the George E. Hoar Insurance Agency of Gap. He was past Master of the Christiana Masonic Lodge #417 F & A.M., Reading Consistory, Lancaster Lodge of Perfection and the Coatesville Royal Arch Chapter #267. He was past president of the Salisbury Lions Club. He enjoyed hunting. Surviving besides his wife are two children: H. Lee, husband of Mary Ellen Yuninger Hoar, of Covington, PA, Margaret A., wife of Paul N. Allison, Jr., of Gap, 9 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, one sister: Kathryn M. Leaman of Lancaster. He was preceded in death by a daughter: Mary Ann Eby, four siblings: Miriam E. Burt, Elizabeth C. Brackbill, Robert J. and William C. Hoar. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral service on Wednesday, November 7th at 11 A.M. at the Bellevue Presbyterian Church, 810 Newport Avenue, Gap, PA with the Rev. William S. Davies, Jr. officiating. The interment will be private at the convenience of the family. There will be no viewing, the family will receive friends on Wednesday at the church from 9:30 A.M. until time of service. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Bellevue Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 810 Newport Avenue, Gap, PA 17527. Arrangements by the Shivery Funeral Home, Christiana & Paradise.
