Martha J. HORR
Horr's Tire Shop, Snack Bar retiree was known for her pies
Martha J. Horr, 66, of Holbrook, Center Township, died at 11:40 p.m. Saturday, September 6, 2008, in Southwest Regional Medical Center, Waynesburg, following a courageous battle with a cancer-related illness for the past 18 months.
She was born November 9, 1941, in Waynesburg, a daughter of Della Marie Stahl Inghram of Graysville and the late Charles Lester Inghram. She had resided in Center Township most of her life.
A member of Holbrook Christian Church, Mrs. Horr was a member of the last graduating class from the former Center Township High School in 1959.
She and her husband owned and operated a dairy farm in Center Township for several years and also were co-owners and operators of the former Horr's Feed Service in Waynesburg. She was last employed as co-owner and operator of the former Horr's Tire Shop and Snack Bar in Rogersville from 1984 until retiring in 1996.
Mrs. Horr was well-known in the area for her pies and desserts, and she enjoyed the time spent with her family and grandchildren.
She was a member of Tri-State Equine Social Club and enjoyed the many trail rides with the club.
On October 6, 1962, she married Paul Eugene Horr, who survives.
Surviving, in addition to her husband and mother, are two sons, Mark A., husband of Nancy Horr, and Timothy E., husband of Dawn Horr, both of Holbrook; a brother, Charles E., husband of Jo Inghram of Holly Pond, Ala.; a sister, Barbara, wife of Donald Bedilion of Graysville; six grandchildren, Jennifer, Christopher, Taylor, Skyler, Adam and Katie Horr; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to her father, is a grandson, Connor Horr, who died in infancy.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in Rush Funeral Home Inc., Rogersville, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 10, with the Rev. Vernon K. Berdine officiating. Interment will follow in Rosemont Cemetery, Center Township. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Center Township Volunteer Fire Department.
