Obituary: Mrs. Maggie Horr who was been sick for nearly three years with consumption, passed away Friday, June 24th, at her home in West avenue, at the early age of thirty-four years and eleven days. She leaves to mourn her death a kind husband and four children, two daughters and two sons. God has stepped in and taken one of our greatest treasures for a good wife and mother, sister and a good neighbor and one of the best Christians can't be counted anything else and Maggie was this and more. The bereaved family have the sympathy of the entire community. The remains were followed by a large crowd to the last resting place at Plainville Sunday afternoon. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Gordon, of Milo. (From a newspaper clipping found in an old scrapbook. Nearby articles were dated 1909)
(the next article, in the same newspaper) To the many friends and dear mothers, sisters and brothers who so kindly remembered me and sent me one hundred fifty-nine lovely post cards in honor of my thirty-fourth birthday to tell you that I thank you also say that I appreciated all those tokens of friendship. I express my heartfelt gratitude toward you. Those messages that those cards brought me were surely a blessing to a poor body that has lain on a bed of affliction for a period of over four months to the well and hearty ones it seems only a fleeting moment of pleasure, but to me it is days and hours of pleasure to look over them and see who sent this one and that one and what the greeting on each is. As I look over the tokens sent me by my old schoolmates, they brought back to memory the old school house in which we spent so many happy hours little thinking of the trouble and cares that were before us. I received one picture of the old Baptist church which brought memories of the old Baptist days. Mrs. Maggie Horr.
