ALFRED- Victor C. Bird, 90, passed away Monday (July 26, 2010) at St. James Mercy Hospital.
Mr. Bird was born on July 8, 1920 in Burns to Elmer and Esther (Deiter) Bird. He was a 1940 graduate of Canaseraga Central School. He married Louise Freeland, who survives.
Victor was a farmer in Alfred his entire life.
In addition to his wife, Victor is survived by three sons, Stewart (Katherine) Bird of Wellsville, Beryl (Marcia) Bird of Canaseraga and Elmer (Jo Ann) Bird of Nunda; four daughters, Sandra DeNovellis of Albuquerque, NM, Esther Howard of Tampa, Fla., Mary (Jud) Stearns of Alfred Station and Vicky (Jack) Wells of Rochester; 20 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Marylin Horr and Helen Wellington; a son, Edward C. Bird; a son-in-law, Albert Howard; and a great granddaughter, Jayme Ormsby.
There will be a private funeral service held at the convenience of the family. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Baker-Swan Funeral Home in Andover.

Mary Ann Horr 85, Indianapolis, passed away August 16, 2006.
Mary Ann was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Suzanne (Bill) Chramosta; son, Mike (Phyllis) Feeney; step-son, Ralph Harr; 6 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruth Henderson and Pat Moats.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Horr.
Services for Mary Ann will be at 10 a.m. Monday, August 21, 2006 in Flanner & Buchanan Funeral Center at Washington Park East, with visitation there from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, August 20, 2006.
Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.
To honor her sister Pat, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

William H. Horr, Hill View Retirement Village, Portsmouth, entered eternal rest Aug. 13, 2008.
Born to the late Charles Chick Horr and Effie Amberg Horr in Portsmouth, on Sept. 23, 1914, he graduated from Portsmouth High School, Ohio Wesleyan University and the College of Law at the University of Cincinnati.
Admitted to the Bar of Ohio in 1939, Bill practiced law privately in Portsmouth, until the beginning of World War II, when he became a Special Agent of the FBI, working out of Louisville, Ky., Newark, N.J. and Bloomington, Ind. Bill married Marjorie "Marty" Bell Marshall of Warren, Ohio, in 1940.
Resuming his private law practice in Portsmouth in 1946, Bill continued for 60 years, for which he was honored by the Ohio Bar Association. In addition to his private practice, Bill served as substitute Municipal Judge of the Portsmouth Municipal Court for 25 years and as General Counsel for Ohio Wesleyan University for 5 years.
faith, and civic responsibility were most important to Bill, who was active in Portsmouth civic affairs from the opening of his law practice until shortly before his retirement in 2006, focusing on his special interest, education. He served as a member of the Portsmouth Board of Education for 14 years and on the Board of Trustees of Ohio Wesleyan University for 12 years. Bill was instrumental in helping establish what has become Shawnee State University, where he also served as a Trustee and was a founding member of the Shawnee State University Development Foundation.
Early in his community service, Bill was active in the Portsmouth Junior Chamber of Commerce, serving as its second and fifth president and as vice president of the Ohio Junior Chamber of Commerce. He was the first recipient of the Chamber's Distinguished Citizen Award.
Also playing a pivotal role in helping establish the Hill View Retirement Center, Bill served as its first Chairman of the Board, a duty he retained for 14 years. He also served as president of the Portsmouth Rotary Club, the Y.M.C.A. and the Bar Association.
He was active in local politics, serving as a precinct chairman for the Scioto County Republican Party for many years.
Predeceased by his wife, Marty; his second wife, Wilma "Billie" Wakefield Crawford; and his brother, Charles C. "Chad" Horr; as well as cousins, Arthur Horr and Beverly Horr. Bill is survived by his children, Robert (Elaine) Horr of Dublin, Ohio, Thomas Horr of Portsmouth, Mary Catherine (Daniel) Hayes of Greenville, Tenn., James (Carol) Horr of Novi, Mich., and Elizabeth (Mark) Noel of Powell, Ohio; as well as grandchildren, Jamie (David) Shushan, Bernadette Hayes, Joshua (Nikki) Horr, Julia (Jamin) Willoughby, Brian Horr, Molly (Eric) Vance, Ashley Horr, Christopher Horr, Laura Noel; three great-grandchildren; his nephew, Charles (Susan) Horr of Portsmouth; Marty's brother, Judge J.B. (Bev) Marshall of Portsmouth, and their sons, Judge William (Susan) Marshall and John Bell (Julie) Marshall of Portsmouth; and Billie's daughters, Kay (Jim) Corbin of Yellow Springs, Ohio, and Donna G. Wheat of Chandler, Ariz.
Memorial services will be held 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 15, 2008, at Cornerstone United Methodist Church with the Rev. Clark Hess officiating. The family will receive friends at Cornerstone from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.

Deceased Name: Alice Rudd
GLASFORD - Alice W. Rudd, age 94, of Glasford passed away at 3:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2007, at Roseville Country Manor in Roseville, Ill.
She was born Dec. 16, 1912, in Dunfermline, Ill., to George and Sarah Hindson Smith.
Alice married Alvin Rudd on June 28, 1933, in Maple Ridge, Ill. He preceded her in death in 1993.
Alice was employed by American Distillery in Pekin for 25 years, prior to her retirement in 1974.
She was a 60-year member of the Glasford Chapter Order of The Eastern Star and a lifetime member of Kingston Mines United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her son, Jack W. (Nancy) Rudd Sr. of Glasford; her grandchildren, Jack W. (Pam) Rudd of Glasford, David L. Rudd of Cuba, Ill., George C. (Tina) Rudd of Glasford, Robin L. Rudd of Glasford and Jeff A. Rudd of Mapleton, Ill.; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Alvin Lee Rudd in 1963; and three sisters, Dorothy Taylor, Daisey Horr and Helen Powell.
Alice and Alvin spent 18 summers at Dunman Lake in Wisconsin and 20 winters in Lyford, Texas.
Alice enjoyed reading, knitting and traveling the United States.
Funeral services for Alice will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 19, 2007, at Kingston Mines United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Fred Reiner officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service. Interment will be in Kingston Mines Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Kingston Mines United Methodist Church.

Wilma Jean Nebergall, 80, of 818 S. Third Ave., Canton passed away at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, December 3, 2011 at Sunset Rehabilitation and Health Center.
She was born on February 15, 1931 in Canton to Glen C. and Daisy P. (Smith) Horr. Jean married Raymond L. Nebergall on February 2, 1952 in Winona. He preceded her in death on March 3, 1998.
Also preceding her in death were her parents, one brother and one sister.
Surviving are a stepdaughter, Frances Jordan of Peoria; four step-granddaughters; six step great-grandchildren; three step great-great grandchildren; and three sisters, Elizabeth Newton of Canton, Mary Ulrich of Peoria and Judy (Don) Woodcock of Trivoli.
Jean worked as a nurse's aide and ran Ray and Jean's Furniture Store with her husband. She was a very active member of the South Park United Methodist Church in Canton.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 7 at South Park United Methodist Church where visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. The Rev. Rick Atchley will officiate. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Canton.
Memorials may be made to her church. Murphy-Sedgwick Memorial Home is in charge of arrangements.

CANTON WOMAN DIES IN CAR-TRUCK CRASH
A Canton woman died as a result of a car-truck collision Tuesday afternoon at U.S. Route 24 and Illinois Route 9 in Peoria County.
Lois Horr, 64, 858 S. Third St., was pronounced dead at 3:17 p.m. at Saint Francis Medical Center, said Herb Buzbee, Peoria County coroner.
The woman was a passenger in a car driven by John W. Wages, 69, of Cuba. Their car was struck about 2:30 p.m. by a truck driven by Charles W. Linville, 38, of rural Canton as Wages tried to turn left onto Route 9 from etc.

CANTON -- Lois L. Horr, 64, of 858 S. Third Ave. died at 3:17 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 15, 1992, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Born July 15, 1928, in Astoria to William and Pearl Danner Evans, she married Virgil E. Horr on June 30, 1945, in Camp Rucker, Ala. He died March 24, 1986, in Canton.
Surviving are one son, Michael O. of Canton; two daughters, Mrs. Norman (Cindy) Lusher of Morton and Mrs. Victor (Dixie) Kovachevich Jr. of Canton; two brothers, James Evans of Puyallup, Wash., and William Evans Jr. of Canton; and eight grandchildren.
She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Women of the Moose Lodge 784 and American Legion Auxiliary Post 16, all in Canton.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at her church. The Rev. Delmar Smith will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

Obituary:
Christopher A. Horr, 21, of Center Township, Greene County, died unexpectedly in his home at 7:15 p.m. Sunday, January 30, 2011.
He was born November 20, 1989, in Waynesburg, a son of Mark Allen and Nancy Dale Zimmerman Horr of Center Township, and had resided in Center Township all his life.
Mr. Horr formerly attended Centennial Church of God and was attending Rogersville Christian Church Place of Grace at the time of his death.
He was a 2010 graduate of West Greene High School, where he was active in the football, track, baseball and wrestling programs, and was a former member of 4-H in Waynesburg.
Mr. Horr enjoyed hunting, fishing and his time with family and friends. His favorite pastime was snowboarding and bike riding on weekends with his best friend since kindergarten, Jud Loughman.
He was a former employee of Center Township, a paper carrier with the Observer-Reporter and an employee of Denny's in Washington and had been employed for the past six months as a laborer with Randy Main Construction.
Surviving, in addition to his parents, are three sisters, Jennifer, wife of Stanly Rice of Center Township, and Taylor and Skyler Horr, at home; grandparents Shirley Zimmerman of New Freeport and Paul Horr of Center Township; great-grandparents Margaret Isiminger Zimmerman of New Freeport and Della Stahl Inghram, wife of Paul Kolb of Alabama; aunts and uncles Donna Roberts of New Freeport, uncle Robin Roberts of Waynesburg, Debbie and Bill Stewart of Beaver and Tim and Dawn Horr of Center Township; and cousins Greg Roberts and Katie and Adam Horr.
Deceased are a brother, Conner Horr, who died in infancy, and great-grandparents Lester Inghram, Donley Moninger, Glenn and Helen Horr and Carl and Edna Strawn.
Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Rush Funeral Home Inc., Rogersville, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, February 3, with the Rev. James H. Jarvis officiating.
