Hoard was born in New York Oct. 17, 1808 and died March 8, 1896, aged 87 years, 5 months and 8 days. He was married twice, first to Betsy Silvernail, of Auburn, Ohio. Four children were born to them--Jas. M., Charles H., Eliza J. and Emma E. He was married the second time to Elizabeth Wells, also of Auburn, Ohio, and this union was blessed with one son, William R. Mr. Hoard was a physician by professon, and when a young man often filled the pulpit in a very able manner. Many of our citizens remember of hearing him preach, or exhort in an earnest and convincing manner. For many years he made his hom with his favorite child, Emma (Mrs. Jas. Mitchell) until her death a few months ago broke up the family. A faithful Christian gentleman, his well known form will be long missed. The funeral was held at the residence of T.G. Mitchell Tuesday afternoon, and the remains laid to rest beside those of his daughter, who so recently preceded him to the better land. http://sidneyrigdon.com/books/1880Pion.htm Alva B. Hoard, eldest son of John Hoard, was born in the State of New York in 1808; was married in 1831, to Betsey Silvernail. They moved to Auburn in 1832, and took up their residence in Auburn valley. They had four children, whose names were James M., Eliza J., Mary M., and Charles H.
