12452 | http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=icfa&id=I51512 ~ Obituary: Zanesville Daily Courier Nrwspaper (Zanesville, Ohio) Published: Jan 7, 1863 Death of Mr. Horr - It is with surprise that we learn of the death of Mr. John Horr of Licking township in this county. He died on the morning of January the 1st, of a dis- ease of the brain contracted while visiting the hospitals of Louisville, and looking after a sick son, a member of the 97th Ohio Regiment. Mr. H was a native of Waltham, Massachu- setts, but at a very early period of his life his family came to this county, where he grew up to manhood, and almost to old age. At different times he has been an extensive deal- er in stock, which indeed he had not entirely relinquished at the time of his death. His ill- ness was short and severe. The members of the Irville Lodge of Ma- sons, attended his funeral on the 2nd of Jan- uary, for which act of brotherly sympathy Mr. Horr's friends are very grateful. 12485 | http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=mldrfl&id=I001578 BIO: From the Rush County History, 1888 C. M. Selby, a farmer, stock raiser and dealer, is one of the most representative citizens of Orange Township and is the son of James H. and Druscilla (Whiteman) Selby. He was reared on a farm and received a common school education. He has followed farming as an occupation, raising stock and trading in live stock, has been connected with his farming. When he began the battle of life, he had no capital to begin with, but he has been successful in his calling. By means of energy and enterprise, he has become a progressive man and a representative citizen. In September 15, 1864, he was united with marriage to Samantha Carter, daughter of Finley S. and Eliza Carter. Three children have been born unto this marriage; Minnie Florence, Mary and Amanda. Our subject has never aspired to public life, but has preferred the life of a prosperous farmer. In politics, he is a democrat, and while he is not a member of any church, he is an advocate of true orality, and is a friend to education and encourages allcommendable public improvement. | Selby, Charles M.
