    David Woodard, 85, of Arlington, WA died October 21, 2011 from complications of Alzheimer's disease.
    David was born in 1925 in Tacoma, WA to Bertha and William Woodard. Joining the Navy during WWII at age 17 he became a highly decorated carrier pilot and squadron leader. He was an inspiring speaker and writer during his 32 years of service and was honored for heroism and leadership.
    Soon after retiring he completed his history degree at the UW. He enjoyed his later years at the Arlington Gleneagle Golf Course golfing, playing bridge and poker and traveling with dear friends.
    He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Rosalie (Hoar); children, Jeffrey, Betsy (Kipper) and Wendy; sister, Barbara Simonson; brother, Bill; and five grandchildren.
    He was predeceased by his daughter, Andrea.
    Military "Honors "Ceremony will be held on Tuesday, November 1 at 1:00 p.m. at Tahoma National Cemetery, 18600 SE 240th St., Kent, WA. A reception will follow the outdoor service at the Meridian Valley Country Club, 24830 136th Ave SE, Kent, WA.

    David married Rosalie Hoar on 16 Jun 1951 in Tacoma, Pierce Co, Washington, USA. Rosalie (daughter of Leslie Hoar and Ellen Anderson) was born on 1 Aug 1929 in Kelso, Cowlitz Co, Washington, USA. [Group Sheet]
