      Deceased Name: Mary L. Smithley
      Point Marion shop clerk
      Mary L. Smithley, 79, of Point Marion, died Tuesday, November 30, 2004, in Waynesburg.
      She was born July 6, 1925, in Penn Pitt, a daughter of David and Nellie Rogers Hoar.
      Mrs. Smithley worked as a clerk at various retail shops in Point Marion. She was an active member, holding a number of different offices, of the ladies auxiliaries of Fraternal Order of Elks, Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion, all in Point Marion.
      Surviving are four children and their spouses, Walter "Sonny" and Linda Smithley of Dilliner, John and Bonnie Smithley of Texas, Kenneth Smithley of Carmichaels and Judith and Clarence Wade of Dilliner; 11 grandchildren, including Todd Smithley of Nemacolin, who took care of her affairs for the past several years; many great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Anna Rimmel of Dilliner and Rosella Bunt of Point Marion, and their families.
      Deceased are a grandson, Marlon Wade; and a brother, Zedker "Zip" Orr.
      Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and until 11 a.m., the hour of service, Friday, December 3, in Richard R. Herod Funeral Home, Point Marion, with Pastor Edward Woods officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park, Point Marion.
