      DEDHAM -- Mary A. (Hartigan) Hoar, 89, of Dedham, a teacher in Dedham public schools for 20 years, died Friday in Eastwood Care Center.
      Mrs. Hoar retired in the late 1960s after starting at the Old Capen School on Sprague Street in Dedham, and spending many years at the Riverdale School.
      Born in Boston, she lived in West Roxbury where she graduated from Notre Dame Academy. She moved to Dedham in 1962.
      Mrs. Hoar received teacher's training at Boston Normal School and received a master's degree in education from Boston University.
      Wife of the late Charles A. Hoar, she is survived by a son and daughter, Charles J. Hoar of Foxboro and Edith McDonough of North Babylon, N.Y., five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
      A funeral Mass was celebrated Tuesday in St. Theresa's Church, West Roxbury. Burial was be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, West Roxbury.
      Arrangements were made by the P.E. Murray Funeral Home, West Roxbury.
