Obituary:
NORFOLK - Virginia Claire Ryan, 72, of Norfolk died surrounded by loving family on Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013 in the Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. She was the beloved wife of David Ryan, to whom she was married on May 14, 1966.
Born in Norwood on Aug. 12, 1940, she was a loving daughter of the late Francis and Mildred (Matthes) Hoar. She was a graduate of the Norwood High School.
She was employed for many years as a clerical worker at the former Crosby Valve in Wrentham and at the Bird Machine Co. in Walpole.
Virginia enjoyed knitting and a good game of bingo; she also liked the companionship of her two cats. She enjoyed volunteering, and spent time as a volunteer at the Norfolk Public Library.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by loving children, Jennifer and her husband Alan Bethel of Milford, and David Ryan and his fiance Kate Moore of Wrentham. She was the dear sister of Betty Halstead of Falmouth and Jane Burke of LA. She was the devoted grandmother of six grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the RJ Ross Funeral Home, 135 South St., Route 1A, Wrentham Center, on Monday, Jan. 21 from 5 to 8 p.m. Her funeral will be on Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home, and burial will follow in the Wrentham Centre Cemetery.
Arrangements are in the care of Richard Ross and the RJ Ross Funeral Home, Wrentham Center.
