  [[ Obituary: Lifelong Rainier resident Gertrude Hoard, 90, passed away Sept. 1, 2009, at home. She was born Aug. 14, 1919, in Rainier to Krist and Alvina (Webber) Zimmerman and received her education there. Gertie married James W. Hoard Dec. 27, 1935. They made their home on a farm in the Fern Hill area. James preceded her in death April 12, 2003. Gertie is survived by two daughters, Alice Beck of Rainier and Betty Jarrell of Kelso; a son, Robert Hoard of Rainier; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
