Deceased Name: Phyllis M. Jerusik, 74; longtime area teacher
Phyllis M. (Hoar) Jerusik, 74, of 36 Orchard Road, a former teacher, died Wednesday at a local nursing home.
She taught in the Chicopee and East Longmeadow school systems for more than 44 years, retiring in 1980.
Born in Chicopee, she graduated from the former Holy Name High School and Elms College.
She was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church in Springfield and a member of its Women's Club. She was also a member of the Massachusetts Teachers Association.
Her husband, Frank Jerusik, died in 1980. She leaves a son, Andrew F. of Littleton, Colo.; and three grandchildren.
The funeral will be Saturday morning at Sampson, Chapel of the Acres Funeral Home and in the church, with burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Chicopee. Calling hours are tomorrow afternoon and evening.
