  [[ Obituary: Feb. 17, 1914 - June 5, 2003 SALEM - Helen (Hoar) Purkhiser, 89, of Salem died at 10:10 p.m. Thursday at Heritage House of Salem. She was a retired school teacher, having taught for 43 years. Survivors include two daughters: Carolyn Baird of Salem and Nancy Colglazier of Savannah, Ga.; one brother, Morris Hoar of Salem; one sister, Jeannette Hart of Salem; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Weathers Funeral Home of Salem. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery in Salem. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 8 a.m. until the service on Friday at the funeral home.
