      FAIRHAVEN -- Miriam Francis Knox, 92, of Fairhaven, formerly of Mattapoisett died Saturday, Aug. 7, 2004, at Alden Court Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was the widow of Arthur R. Knox.
      Born in Taunton, the daughter of the late Allen P. and Ida (Barrows) Hoard, she was a graduate of Holyoke College.
      Mrs. Knox was a teacher in Fairhaven and Mattapoisett schools.
      She was a member of the Mattapoisett Congregational Church where she was active with the Women's Club. She was also a member of the Mt. Holyoke Alumnae Association and volunteered at the Children's Museum in South Dartmouth and the Adult Literacy program. She also enjoyed reading, gardening and swimming.
      Survivors include two daughters, Deborah Knox of Tucson, Ariz., and Judith Overlock of Winter Haven, Fla.; a son, David Knox of Madison, Conn.; five grandchildren, Kendall Knox, Kara Knox, Kyle Knox, Billy Overlock and Karen Overlock; seven great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
      She was the sister of the late Eleanor Wicher and Lois Holt.
      Her burial will be held privately in the Mayflower Cemetery, Taunton.
      Arrangements are by the National Cremation Service, Quincy.
