Russell S. Hoar, 45, of Anderson Street, died Wednesday at a local hospital.
He was born here, son of Clayton and Helen Mace Hoar, and attended South Portland schools.
During the Vietnam War, Mr. Hoar served in the Army.
He had been a painter for Logan Painting Co.
He was a fan of South Portland's Red Riots teams and the Portland Sea Dogs, and enjoyed dancing.
Mr. Hoar was a member of the Portland Eagles.
Surviving are his parents of Dunedin, Fla.; five sons, Heath Hoar, and Danny, Rob, Chris and Jeff Rice, all of Portland; four brothers, Clayton of Buxton, Gregory of Gorham, Lee Forest and Richard, both of Portland; two sisters, Irene Libby and Patricia Hill, both of Portland; and several grandchildren.
A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Hay & Peabody, 749 Congress St. Burial will be in Brooklawn Memorial Park.Russell married Living [Group Sheet]

Gregory A. Hoar, 50
GORHAM - Gregory A. Hoar, 50, of Winterberry Drive, died April 22, 2004, at his residence.
He was born in Portland, a son of Clayton F. and Helen I. Mace Hoar.
Gregory was known as a 'people person', and a wonderful husband and father. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, spending time with his grandchildren, and especially enjoyed the time he spent with his dog, Tiger, and his cat, Taz.
He is survived by his father and mother of Portland;
his wife, Flo Hoar of Gorham; two daughters, Kathy Thompson of North Waterboro, Krista Talmer of Arundel; son, Gregory C. Hoar of Gorham; three brothers, Clayton E. Hoar, Ricky Hoar, Lee Forest; a sister; Patty Hill; grandchildren, Brittney Thompson, Brooke Thompson, Austin Thompson, Katelyn Talmer.
Visiting hours will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Sunday at Hay & Peabody Funeral Home, 749 Congress Street, Portland, where a funeral will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday. A committal service will take place at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at Brooklawn Memorial Park, 2002 Congress St. Portland. The Rev. Jacob Watson will officiate.Gregory married Living [Group Sheet]
