    J. Hoar Jr. 1927-2008 HOLYOKE - John J. Hoar, Jr., 80, of West Holyoke, died Sunday, May 18, 2008 at the Holyoke Medical Center. He was born in Holyoke, son of the late John J. and Anne (O'Sullivan) Hoar, and was educated in Holyoke's Parochial Schools. John was a United States Navy Veteran of World War II, serving aboard the U.S.S. Antietam, and he was the recipient of the WWII Victory medal, the American Area medal, the Asiatic Pacific medal, and the Good Conduct medal. After the war was employed as a Civil Engineer for more than thirty years at Westover Air Reserve Base in Chicopee, retiring in 1985. He was a member of the Holyoke Lodge of Elks #902 and the Mass. Morgan Horse Association. His wife, Verda (LaFlamme) Hoar died on September 13, 2000. John is survived by his children, Verda Hess, John Hoar III, Maria O'Brien, Mike Hoar and his wife Katherine, Pamela Bergeron and her husband Douglas, Jo-Anne Dennis, Jeffrey Hoar and his wife Lynn, Jacquelyn Pitoniak and her husband James, and Jennifer Wilda and her husband Robert, nineteen grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, a brother, James Hoar, a sister, Mary Armata and her husband Ted, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Francis Hoar, a sister, Carol Durocher, a granddaughter, Tanya Denis, and a son-in-law, John O'Brien. A Funeral Home Service will be held Friday morning at 10:00 a.m. in the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke. Burial will follow at St. Jerome Cemetery.     Francis K. Hoar, 68, of Centennial Lane, Daytona Beach, Fla., and formerly of this city, died Friday at Halifax Medical Center in Florida. He was a construction engineer for the city and worked for the Holyoke Gas & Electric Department. He retired in 1979. Born here, he attended Holyoke Community College and belonged to the Holyoke Kennel Club and the Daytona Beach Obedience Club. He leaves his wife, the former Diane Fay; a daughter, Deborah Hoar of Holyoke; two brothers, John Jr. of Holyoke and James B. of Southampton; and two sisters, Mary Armata of South Windsor, Conn., and Carol Durocher of Brewster. Volusia County Cremation Society is in charge. Memorial contributions may be made to any humane or conservation society.

    Carol T. Durocher BREWSTER - Carol T. "Tessie" (Hoar) Durocher, 66, died unexpectedly at her home Saturday, April 5, 2008. She was the wife of Alfred E. Durocher for 39 years.
    Born, raised and educated in Holyoke, Mrs. Durocher was a graduate of Holyoke Catholic High School and Holyoke Hospital School of Nursing. A registered nurse for 40 years, Mrs. Durocher worked as a surgical nurse at Holyoke Hospital and as a charge nurse at the Windsor Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in South Yarmouth. Mrs. Durocher was longtime resident of Holyoke until moving to West Yarmouth in 1979, and then to Brewster in 1997. An avid Red Sox and Patriots fan, Mrs. Durocher also enjoyed bowling and spending time with her grandchildren.
    In addition to her husband, Mrs. Durocher is survived by a daughter, Amy Holmes, and her husband, Mark, of South Dennis; two brothers, John and James Hoar, both of Holyoke; a sister, Mary Armata of South Windsor, Conn.; three grandchildren, Joshua, Katie and Chad Holmes, all of South Dennis; and several nieces and nephews.
    A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 12, in St. Pius Tenth Church, Station Avenue, South Yarmouth.
    Interment will be private. Visiting hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, April 11, in the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth 02664.

    HOLYOKE - Michael Andrew Hoar, of Holyoke, was called safely home after a courageous battle with complications stemming from a bone marrow transplant. He was surrounded by his family at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He worked for the past 9 years at U.S. Tsubaki, where he was active in the local Steelworkers Union, serving as Vice-President. He was an avid New England sports fan, never missing a Red Sox, Patriots, Bruins, or Celtics game. He also served in the United States Army from 1974 to 1978. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the medical staff at Mass General Hospital, Holyoke Medical Center, and all who participated in Michael's care. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Kathryn (Judd) Hoar, his children: Krystal and her husband Jorge Ayala of Westfield, Kathryn and her wife Erika Diaz of Holyoke, and GM1 Michael Hoar, stationed with the Navy in Groton CT, two brothers: John of Easthampton and Jeffrey of Easthampton, six sisters: Verda Hess of Westfield, Maria O'Brien of Chicopee, Pamela Bergeron of Holyoke Joanne Dennis of Chicopee, Jacquelyn Pitoniak of Huntington, and Jennifer Wilda of Holyoke, 14 grandchildren, whom he loved dearly, as well as several nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins, aunts and uncles. Michael was predeceased by his parents, John and Verda (LaFlamme) Hoar and a niece Tanya Dennis. A funeral service will be held Tuesday morning at 11:30 in the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street. Burial will follow at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam.     CHICOPEE - Tanya E. Dennis, 23, died suddenly on Sunday September 30, 2007, in Maryland, as the result of an automobile accident. She was born in Holyoke on March 19, 1984, to Robert W. Dennis Jr. of Hudson, Fl, and Jo-Anne Dennis of Chicopee. Tanya attended local schools and graduated from Pathfinder Regional High School in 2002, where she enjoyed playing basketball, soccer and softball. Tanya had a special love for horses. She had previously worked for the Mt. Holyoke Equestrian Center and Fox Meadow Farm, she was currently working as a Horse Trainer at the Otasaga Farm in Maryland. Tanya had also previously worked for Hawley's Restaurant. Besides her parents, Tanya will be sadly missed by one brother Robert J. Dennis and his wife Jamie of New Jersey; one sister Carissa M. Dennis of Chicopee; her paternal grandfather, Robert W. Dennis Sr. of Springfield; her maternal grandfather John J. Hoar Jr. of Holyoke; one goddaughter Kasandra L. Wilda of Holyoke; a very good friend Elisabeth D'Agosto of Maryland; a very special "father figure", John H. Roberts of Belchertown and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins. Tanya will also be missed by her horse, Whisper Dee and her canine friend, Sargeant. She was pre-deceased by her paternal grandmother Blossom A. Dennis and her maternal grandmother Verda F. Hoar. There will be a funeral mass at a later date, the day and time will be announced. Calling hours will be Thursday October 4, 2007 form 4 P.M. to 8 P.M. at the Brunelle Funeral Home, 811 Chicopee St., Chicopee. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
