Olive Lillian Lookabill, 84, of International Falls, died at Pioneer Memorial Care Center, Erskine, Minn., Dec. 25, 2006.
Born Olive Lillian Hoard, Sept. 19, 1922, in Emo, Ontario, Canada, Olive was united in marriage to Dale Lookabill on June 9, 1943, and came to live in International Falls, where they made a home and family.
Olive became a naturalized citizen of the United States in 1965.
Olive loved going deer and partridge hunting, and fishing with her husband; and Dale and Olive enjoyed many summers on Rainy and Black Bay Lakes or camping in Atikoken, Ontario, with their family and relatives.
Olive was known for her talents in the kitchen. Her daughters have many fond memories of the beautiful Christmas cookies their mom made for them when they were growing up.
Olive loved her family deeply, was always fun to be around, loved to laugh and loved to entertain. Anything that came out of Olive's kitchen was hungrily anticipated by all their many friends and family. She was kind and nurturing and always quick to respond to those in need with a homemade casserole and her memorable baked goods.
Olive and Dale opened their hearts and home to many foster children over the years, some being newborns, toddlers, some abused and neglected found loving attentions and gentle care in the Lookabill home.
Olive was also a wonderful homemaker. Her home was always a warm, welcoming place. She was also an amazing seamstress making most of her girls' clothes when they were young and they were always dressed like dolls. She was also known to stay up most of the night sewing doll clothes which are still used by some of her great-granddaughters.
Olive was preceded in death by her husband Dale on May 14, 2005.
She is survived by, and will be deeply missed by her son Lawrence Lookabill of Brainerd, Minn.; daughters, Dianne (Bob) Michalicek of Thief River Falls, Alice Johnson, Rochester, and Brenda (Phil) Bunde of Wells, Minn.; nine grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 29, at Evangelical Covenant Church, International Falls, where Dale and Olive were baptized and faithful members for over 50 years. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Condolences may be left at www.greenlarsen.com . Arrangements are with Green-Larsen Mortuary Inc., International Falls.

Obituary:
DANIEL VERNON HOARD
Remember me when the candle lights are gleaming. Remember me at the close of a long, long day. Daniel Vernon Hoard, 73, of Atikokan, Ont., passed away peacefully on Thursday, Feb. 2, 2006 at Atikokan General Hospital with his family by his side. Daniel was born April 13, 1932 to Nelson and Alice Hoard in Fort Frances, Ont. Dan worked in various jobs between Ontario and British Columbia before meeting his wife, Alice Hoard (nee Kelly), and moving to Atikokan to work at Steep Rock Mine in 1964. He worked there as a truck driver, then a scaler until its closure. He also worked for Johnsons Logging and Stan Bates Construction until he was forced to retire. Dan loved life, and spending time with his family and friends. Some of his best times were on hunting and fishing trips with his buddies, Gordie and Leon. These trips were the source of many great stories, embellished or not, and we all loved to hear them. Two other aspects of his life that brought him great joy were his TV hockey games and his pets. Dan leaves behind his wife, Alice; children, Babes Rusnick (Rory Wright), Shannon Morrison (Charlie Tremblay), Dianne Lindman, Nelson (Terry) Hoard, and Rick Hoard; stepchildren, Nicole (David) Klatt, Taina Morrison, Sandra Ui, and Sylvia Halifax (Adrian Janvier); and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dan also is survived by his siblings, Doug (Marlene) Hoard, Olive Lookibill, Gloria Anness, and Eunice Heibert; and several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. Dan was predeceased by parents, Nelson and Alice Hoard; son, Daniel Hoard Jr.; and siblings, Edith Manford, Bill Hoard, Ed Hoard, Stanley Hoard, Doris Vanderberg, and Phyllis Mitchell. We will miss him every day. He was a great man and will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. At Dans request, no service will be held. Cremation took place on Feb. 3, 2006. In memoriam donations can be made to the Atikokan General Hospital Foundation.Daniel married Alice Marie Kelly. Alice (daughter of Harry Kelly and Mary Kokum) was born on 10 Mar 1928 in Kenora, Ontario, Canada; died on 6 Oct 2007 in Atikokan, Ontario, Canada. [Group Sheet]
