    Deceased Name: Kerschensteiner, Mark H.
    FORT ATKINSON - Mark H. Kerschensteiner, age 89, Fort Atkinson, died on Thursday, July 15, 2010, at home.
    He was born on March 2, 1921, in Fort Atkinson, the son of the late Mark J. and Shirley (Hoard) Kerschensteiner. Mark married the former Valerie Roessler of Fort Atkinson on November 27, 1943, in Fort Atkinson. He was a graduate of the Fort Atkinson High School. Mark later graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1943. He was a member and past president of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. He always remained a loyal alumnus. Following graduation from college he served in the U.S. Marines Corps in the South Pacific Theatre receiving the rank of captain. He was employed by W.D. Hoard and Sons, Co. for 40 years, beginning as an advertising manager in 1945, and at the time of his retirement in April 1986, was senior vice president. Mark had a great dedication to his community and was an active member of many organizations, including Rotary, Board of Directors of the Hoard Museum, Fort Atkinson Community Foundation, and Fort Atkinson Hospital Board of Trustees. He was a lifelong member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ, having served on the board of trustees and as moderator.
    Survivors include his wife, Valerie; a daughter, Kristin Kerschensteiner of Fort Atkinson; grandchildren, Catherine (Matt) Cherwin of Madison, Andrew Martin of Waukesha, Christopher Martin of Fort Atkinson, Jill Kerschensteiner of New York, N.Y.; other relatives and many friends. Also preceding in death was a son, Mark.
    Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, July 20, 2010, at 11 a.m. at the FIRST CONGREGATIONAL UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST with the Rev. Dr. Chris Buckingham-Taylor officiating. Family burial services will take place at a later date. Friends may call from 10 a.m. on Tuesday at the church until the time of service.
    If desired, memorials may be made to the Fort Atkinson Community Foundation Inc., or to the Hoard Museum.
    The Dunlap Memorial Home is assisting the family.
