    Obituary:
    FARMINGTON: Marion Amelia Ramsey, 81 of Farmington, died suddenly of natural causes on Oct. 15, at her home in Farmington. She was born on Dec. 4, 1919 in Portland. Her hobbies included bingo, crocheting, playing cards and watching soap operas. She is survived by her sister Ruth Slowik of Chebeague Island: daughters Jacqueline McConkey of Hamburg, Germany: Mrs Charles Rickett, Jr. of Portland, Dorothy Cook of Farmington Falls, Rosemary Velazquez of Farmington, JoAnn Provost of Westbrook, and Ronda Breen of Portland: a son, Charles Breen of Cumberland, step sons Owen, Reginald, and Henry Ramsey all of Portland and Eugene Ramsey of Leeds: Step daughters Josephine Amy Grant of Sabattus, Shirley Allen of Augusta, Pauline Burgess of Leeds, and Arlene Walker of Portland: 24 grandchildren, 35 Great Grandchildren 8 Great Great Grandchildren: 31 step grandchildren: and 61 step great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Lawrence K Ramsey and a step son Lawrence K, Ramsey Jr. Buried with her husband Lawrence Ramsey Sr. The headstone is not marked with her name and information. Passed eleven years to the day after her husband. A memorial service will be held on Sunday Oct, 28 at 1 PM at the home of Mr and Mrs Burchard Cook, 226 Mason Road, Farmington Falls.     David Horr and Sylvia Johnson were married August 20, 1955, in Evergreen Methodist Church, Long Island, Maine, by Rev. Norman Catir. They are celebrating 50 years of marriage this year. David is a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the U.S. Navy from 1945 to 1954. He retired from the State of Missouri. Sylvia is a retired housekeeper. David and Sylvia have been members of the West Division Street Baptist Church for 22 1/2 years. The couple has five children, David of Hays, Kan.; Timothy of Lodi, Calif.; Daniel of Springfield; James of Ozark; and Rebecca of Springfield; 11 grandchildren, Daniel, Haley, Zachary and Tiffani of Springfield; Christopher, Eric and Kevin of Ozark; and Matthew, Amanda, Alicia and Joshua of Hays, Kan.

    David Arthur Horr, age 82, of Springfield, MO, passed away Thursday, January 13, 2011 in his home with his family around him.
    He was born December 18, 1928, in Portland, Maine, to Joseph and Evelyn Horr. He was a member of the West Division Street Baptist Church where he played the piano for many years. He served in the U.S. United States Army and Navy, playing in the U.S. Navy Band. David also attended New England Conservatory of Music in Boston. David retired from the State of Missouri in 1992 after 13 years of service.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Evelyn Horr; and one brother, Kenneth Horr. He is survived by his wife of fifty-five years, Sylvia Horr of Springfield, MO; five children, David Arthur Johnson and wife Brandie of Hays KS, Timothy Scott Horr of Lodi CA., Daniel Horr and wife Carolyn of Springfield, James Horr of Springfield, Rebecca Tobin of Springfield; eleven grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Carolyn Peterson of Westbrook Maine; and one neice Martha DeCesere of St. Jospeh Maine.
    Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m, Tuesday, January 18, 2011, in West Division Street Baptist Church. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. in Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield, MO. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, January 17, 2011 at Greenlawn Funeral Home North. Memorial contributions may be made to the West Division Street Baptist Church. Services have been entrusted to Greenlawn Funeral Home North, Springfield, MO.

    Leon "Scott" Horr, 65
    SCARBOROUGH -- Leon "Scott" Horr, 65, of Cape Elizabeth and Long Island, passed away Aug. 12, 2009, at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House, after a courageous battle against cancer.
    Scott was born in Portland on Feb. 4, 1944, the son of Leon and Leila Horr. He is survived by his wife Sharron "Cheri"; son Jason; daughter-in-law Kathy; three grandchildren, Erika, Tory and Kierra; and a son Kory.
    Scott was a summertime lobsterman all his life and taught school for the South Portland School Department for 32 years. He served in the U.S. Army as an instructor during the Vietnam War. He was a devoted husband and a loving father and grandfather.
    Visiting hours will be 2-4 p.m., with a funeral service at 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, 2009, at the Hobbs Funeral Home, 230 Cottage Rd., South Portland.
    In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Long Island Fire and Rescue on Long Island, Maine.

    Richard S. Horr, who grew up on Long Island and spent the rest of his life on or close to the water, died Feb. 28, 2003, of complications from pneumonia. He was 51.
    Born Sept. 26, 1951, the son of Carolyn Devoe Horr Leach and Murton Leach, Mr. Horr attended Portland schools and then joined the Army, serving in the Army Security Agency in Vietnam and Washington, D.C.
    "He was proud to serve," said his wife, Marianna Valls Horr. "But like a lot of Vietnam veterans, he had a hard time talking about it, and really didn't elaborate much."
    Back in Portland, Mr. Horr embarked on a 30-year career in the seafood industry, working first as a ground fisherman and then as general manager of North Atlantic Seafoods and, finally, as operations manager of Casco Bay Lobster Co. and Cozy Harbor Seafoods. "He just loved the ocean very much," his wife said.
    Another of Mr. Horr's passions was music, which he enjoyed listening to and playing. A self-taught guitarist, he once led the rock band Masquerade, which played clubs in Portland and elsewhere.
    In recent years, his musical tastes matured. Rather than listening to classic rock 'n' roll from the '70s and '80s, he began to favor contemporary Christian music, bands such as Mercy Me and Avalon.
    However, Mr. Horr's playing days were limited by illness. Diagnosed with renal failure in 2001, he underwent 13 grueling months of dialysis treatment. Even after a kidney transplant - the organ was donated by Annie Whittemore, a friend of his wife - he lacked the energy to play and compose music as much as he would have liked.
    "Last summer, he put on a concert for Long Island with the help of other band members, and he was trying to prepare a show for this summer," his wife said.
    Five years ago, Mr. Horr and his wife became involved in the Fresh Air Fund, a program that gives children from urban areas a chance to spend two weeks during the summer in suburban or small- town communities.
    "Really, it was an opportunity for these kids to have fresh air, and we enjoyed their company very much," his wife said. "They were very special to us and we felt we were blessed to have a summer home on Long Island."
    Soon after his diagnosis, Mr. Horr began attending Stroudwater Christian Church, introduced to the church by his sister-in-law. He occasionally sang at the church and last April he and his wife were baptized there together.
    "Rick just thought it was time to seek and be a part of the church and we went together," she said. "He found a friend and a family at the church."
