    Amos Hobart, Esq., has succeeded in
    winning tho affections of one of the fair
    daughters of Syracuse, a Mrs. Barron, and
    led her to tho altar on Thursday, the 30th
    inst. We sympatise with her many friends
    in Syracuse on tho removal of this amiable
    lady here, but what is their loss is our gain.
    We congratulate Mr. H. on his selection of
    a partner and wish them many years of pros-
    perity and happiness, and we also welcome
    his newly made wife to our midst and hope
    she will never have reason to regret coming
    to our beautiful place as a resident.

    Sketch of the late amos Hobart.
    Amos Hobart died June 11, 1890.
    He was born in 1807, being at the time
    of his death in his eighty fourth year
    He was a son of Gideon and Electa
    Wadsworth Hobart, and an elder brother
    of Deacon Manley Hobart, who died
    in 1883. Nine children- five sons and
    two daughters--remain to mourn his
    loss. He first married Jane Brown,
    who died In 1878. In 1875 he married
    Ellen M. Baron of Cortland, who survives
    him. He first united with the
    Congregational church of Homer in
    1826, and after a short residence in Dryden
    reunited in 1832. In his death his
    family lose a faithful father and husband,
    the community a respected and
    honored citizen and the church a stead-
    fast and consistent member.

    Death of Mrs. Flavllla Hobart Hathaway.
    Mrs. C. A. Watson received word
    last week of the death on January 30th,
    of her only surviving sister, Mrs.
    Flavilla Hobart Hathaway, whose
    home was in Oconomowoc, Wis. Mrs.
    Hathaway would have been 85 years
    old on the 4th of March next. She was
    born in Homer where she resided until
    after her marriage . She is survived
    by two children.
    Mrs. Watson is now the only surviving
    member of a family of fourteen
    children of the late Mr. and Mrs. Amos
    Hobart. She visited her sister at her
    home in Oconomowoc about a year ago.

    In Big Bar. California, on the 19th of June last,
    Seymour D. HOBART, aged 23 years.
    Mr. Hobart was the son of Amos Hobart of Homer.
    He went to California two years ago last
    April. He was crossing the Trinity River in a
    boat, which struck a rock and upset in the rapid
    curreut, and he was seen but twice afterwards.
    Mr. Hobart was a young man of the best of
    habits, and sustained an irreprochable character.

    BUNKER.? In San Francisco, Cal., June
    5th, 1878, Mrs. Sophronia C. Hobart, wife
    of Mr. George Bunker and daughter of
    Amos Hobart, Esq., of this villago, aged
    39 years.
    Mrs. Bunker was married and left this,
    her native village nineteen years ago,
    With a faithful and loving Christian heart
    she endured the many dangers and privations
    incident to life in a now country. The
    peculiarly trying death of her first-born,
    the murder of her husband's partner and
    plunder of her own home by the Indians,
    and various reverses of fortune did not find
    her unprepared to sustain all with Christian
    fortitude and courage. She was emphatically
    "a woman in whom the heart of
    her husband could safely trust," who
    "opened her mouth with wisdom, and in
    whose tongue was the law of klndness."
    By the testimony of all who know her,
    she was a true wife and safe counsellor to
    her husband, a faithful mother to her four
    surviving children and a devoted Christian
    in all the relations she sustained.
    Her death came suddenly and unexpectedly,
    but the messenger found her ready,
    and tho chief comfort the wlde circle of
    bereaved friends may have, Is the assurance
    that for her to die was to enter upon
    the Heavenly Rest. In that home above,
    she is re-united to her sainted mother and
    to many others gone before, and thither
    her memory and her Christian example
    point tho way for those dear to her.

    had been to attend the funeral of her
    niece, Jennie L, Hobart, daughter of
    Dr. G. D. Hobart, who is a brother of
    Mrs. Watson and also Mr. D. C. Hobart.
    Miss Hobart died of pneumonia Sunday,
    May 22, and the funeral was held on
    Wednesday, May 25.
