      Col. Charles F. Hoar of Scituate, WW II Army Veteran, March 15, 2005, age 92. Husband of the late Helen (Duffy). Loving father of Charles F., Jr. of Scituate, Joan H. Brohlin of Naples, FL, and Robert "Chip" Hoar of Lowell. Grandfather of 9 and great-grandfather of 10. Brother of the late B Gen. John B. Hoar, Col. George S. Hoar and Evelyn Day. Funeral from the Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Rd., SCITUATE on Mon., March 21 at 9:00 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary of the Nativity Church, Scituate at 10 AM.       Charles F. Hoar of Scituate, a public relations officer, news camera operator, probation officer and veteran, died Tuesday at Life Care Center in Scituate. He was 92.
      Born in Boston, he graduated from Jamaica Plain High School, where he was an all-scholastic choice in football, baseball and hockey. He was offered contracts by both the Red Sox and Bruins, but he chose to attend Holy Cross College.
      He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was later appointed military aide de camp to former Massachusetts Gov. Edward King. He also served as executive secretary of the Honorable Artillery Company of Massachusetts.
      Mr. Hoar worked as a public relations officer at the Boston Fire Department and Boston Police Department. He also worked as a camera operator at WBZ-TV and served as chief probation officer for the Suffolk County Court System, retiring in 1994.
      He was honored as Crusader of the Year by the Holy Cross Alumni Association.
      Husband of the late Helen (Duffy), Mr. Hoar is survived by two sons, Charles F. Jr. of Scituate and Robert "Chip'' of Lowell; a daughter, Joan H. Brolin of Naples, Fla.; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
      A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today at St. Mary of the Nativity Church, Scituate.
      Burial will follow in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
