      Obituary:
      Thursday, 21 January 1999 - 1:00am
      Charlene Windego, 30, of 417 East Francis St., Thunder Bay, Ont., passed away Thursday, Jan. 21, 1999 at Port Arthur General Hospital in Thunder Bay. Charlene was born Nov. 28, 1968 in Emo, Ont. She was raised in Thunder Bay, Ont., and united in marriage to Bradley Windego on April 29, 1994. Charlene was attending Lakehead University, studying to be a social worker. She enjoyed reading, working with young people, dancing, playing Bingo, and her cat. Charlene was a very generous and giving person, and was deeply loved by her family and especially by the Windego family. She was predeceased by her father, Wayne Hoard; and great-grandmother, Margaret McGinnis. Charlene is survived by her husband, Brad Windego, and daughter, Ashley Hoard, of Thunder Bay, Ont.; mother, Geraldine Small Legs of Manitou Rapids Rainy River First Nation, Ont.; sister, Christina Hoard and Kevin MaCauley of Red Rock, Ont.; and grandmother, Jean Anderson of Fort Frances, Ont. Also surviving are three uncles, Jerry Mosher and Dennis Mosher, both of Fort Frances, Ont., and Steve Martineau and Peggy of International Falls, Mn.; four great aunts, Alice and husband, Lionel Wood, of Atikokan, Ont., Genevieve McGinnis of Manitou Rapids Rainy River First Nation, Ont., Helen Hunter of Fort Frances, Ont., and Annie and husband, Ronald McGinnis, of Manitou Rapids Rainy River First Nation, Ont.; good friend, Roxan and husband, Billy Joe Anderson, of Thunder Bay, Ont.; and numerous relatives and friends. A traditional burial ritual was held Monday morning, Jan. 25, 1999 at Nicickousemenecaning First Nation Community Centre. Elder James Windego officiated, with interment in Nicickousemenecaning First Nation Cemetery. A wake was held Sunday evening at the Nicickousemenecaning First Nation Community Centre. In memoriam donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
