      Alan G. Hoard 1946 - 2011 SHAFTSBURY, VT Alan G. Hoard, 65, a resident of Old Depot Road, Shaftsbury, died Sunday, Nov. 6, 2011, at St. Peters Hospital in Albany, NY, following a long illness. Born in Bennington Aug. 30, 1946, he was the son of Rodney W. Hoard Sr. and the late Lillian (Young) Hoard. Alan received his education in the local schools. He served in the U. S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War . In earlier years he was employed as a mechanic at Paulin Chrysler Plymouth in Shaftsbury. He later worked at ChemFab and was a self-employed carpenter for many years. An avid outdoorsman, he especially enjoyed boating and vacationing with his family at York Beach, Maine. His favorite pastime was spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Browe of Shaftsbury; three daughters and their families, Wendy Pillemer (Eric) and her children, Andrew, Benjamin and Alexis Wilkinson, and Daniel and Elizabeth Pillemer of Fort Ann, NY; Deborah Vallieres (Thomas) and her children Elijah, and Rebecca Vallieres of North Adams, MA, and Julie Darius (Michael) of Manchester; his father, Rodney W. Hoard Sr. of Bennington, four brothers and sisters-in-law, Edwin and Alice Hoard of South Carolina, Rodney Jr. and Patricia Hoard of Bennington, Claude and Janet Hoard of North Bennington and Thomas and Dona Hoard of Bennington. Alan is also survived by two aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins. FUNERAL NOTICE: At Alan's request private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.
