      CURTIS, James F.
      James F. Curtis, 73, of Windham Center, passed away Saturday, (March 20, 2004) after a brief illness. He was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church. He had been a resident of Windham Center for the past 32 years. Born in Fall River MA, he was the son of the late Charles F. Curtis and Irene (Hoar) Curtis both of Fall River, MA. Besides his wife of 48 years, Margaret (Warhall) Curtis of Windham Center, he is survived by his four daughters, Mary Beth Curtis of Willimantic, Sheila (Curtis) Bugnacki of Manchester, Maggie (Curtis) Zurita of Stratford, and Anne (Curtis) Hanna of Bolton. He also leaves his two sons, James F. Curtis, Jr. of Lisbon and Jeffrey P. Curtis of Wilmington, MA. He was the brother of the late Charles E. Curtis of Fall River, MA; and is survived by his brothers, William Curtis of Tiverton, RI, and Dennis Curtis of Fall River, MA. In addition he leaves nine grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was a graduate of BMC Durfee High School and received a Bachelors of Science Degree in Textile Engineering from Bradford Durfee Technical Institute. After graduation from college he enlisted in the United States Army where he served as a special agent in the Counter Intelligence Corps. Thereafter he began his textile career with Ralph E. Loper Company of Fall River, MA, as an engineering consultant. He joined the American Thread Company in 1966 as an industrial engineer and retired in 1986 as the General Manager of the Willimantic plant. He was past president of the Willimantic Chamber of Commerce. He also served on the Board of Corporators of several organizations, including the Willimantic Savings Institute, Eastern Connecticut State College and Windham Community Memorial Hospital. The family invites friends and relatives to visit with them at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson Street, Willimantic Tuesday, March 23, from 6-8 p.m. There will be a memorial Mass at St. Josephs Church, 99 Jackson Street, Willimantic at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 24.
