      TAUNTON-- Norman F. Hoard, 98, of Milton and Lakeville died Monday, April 23, 2001, at Morton Hospital after a brief illness.
      He was the widower of Amey Peirce (Staples) Hoard.
      He was born in Lakeville, the son of the late Alton T. and Mary S. (Fisher) Hoard.
      Mr. Hoard graduated from Harvard University with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
      He was retired from radio communications.
      Mr. Hoard was a communicant of First Parish Church of Milton.
      Apart from the love for his family farm in Lakeville and being close to nature, Mr. Hoard had great interest in the sinking of the Titanic.
      As a youth, he had listened to wireless reports of the rescue.
      Survivors include a daughter, Leatrice Kemp of Palmyra, N.Y.; three grandchildren, Bradford Kemp of Milton, Jonathan Kemp of Attica, N.Y., and Sarah Kemp of Beijing, China, and three great-grandchildren.
      His graveside service will be on Friday at 11 a.m. in the Assonet Burial Grounds, Route 79, Freetown.
      Arrangements are by the Egger Funeral Home, 61 Pearl St., Middleboro.
