Michael Edward Hoar of Holly Hill, passed away on March 5th at Halifax Health after a short and unexpected illness. Mike would have celebrated his 53rd birthday on April 5th, and all his friends and extended family will miss him dearly, as we cherish many great memories of our friend Mike. Mike was born in Miami, Florida and spent the first 30 years of his life in South Florida. He worked in the newspaper business while living in Ft. Lauderdale and also raced and crewed for several top notch boat racing teams. Twenty years ago, Mike relocated to the Daytona Beach area and once worked as a mechanic with ABC Brakes and also bought and sold motorcycles. Mike was an avid NASCAR and drag racing fan, usually making the annual pilgrimage to Gator Nationals. He enjoyed the dog track, riding his several motorcycles and attending the festivities during Bike Week. He was also an active member of ABATE, the motorcycle advocacy organization. Mike regaled us with unique stories and frequent jokes. He was a carefree and spirited person who loved life and lived it to the fullest. While we mourn his passing at such a young age, he will forever remain young in our eyes and in our hearts. As a celebration of Mike's life, and for a gathering of all his friends so we can swap stories and memories, please join us at Houligan's Destination Daytona location on Saturday, May 1st at 3pm. Mike always loved a party, so let's come together and celebrate his life together on May 1st. We would also like to say a special thanks to Chaplain Jim Smith, he will never know how much we appreciate him and his comforting prays during such a difficult time.
