Richard T. Eaton, 69, of Folsom Road, died Jan. 18, 2001 at his home after a courageous struggle with cancer. "Dickie" was born Feb. 17, 1932 in Newburyport, Mass., where he had lived most of his life before moving to Center Ossipee in 1978 with his loving wife and family.
The "Captain" was best known as "Banpa" to all the children who he came to know and love. He loved to travel, read, watch wrestling, dance, listen to country music and spend time with family. He was a fine man who could be counted on at any time, day or night, for any reason. "Dickie" worked for himself as a respected carpenter and jack-of-all-trades. "Dickie's" kind, giving and gentle spirit will live on in his family and friends who knew and loved him.
He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 27 years, Leila (Horr) Eaton of Center Ossipee; his sons, Richard Eaton of Revere, Mass., Robert Scripture of Center Ossipee, Steven Scripture of Bangor, Maine, David Scripture of Ossipee, Chuck Eaton of Manchester, N.H., and Michael Eaton of Salisbury, Mass.; his daughters, Shirlie Perry of Jackson, Patricia Eaton of Revere, Mass., Gloria Eaton of Conway, Kerrie-Lee Berry of Conway, Rose Coulter of Ossipee, Bonnie Eaton of Tamworth, Deborah Scripture of Center Ossipee, Laurie Scripture of Farmington, N.H., Diane Delp of Ossipee, and Tara Eaton of Salisbury, Mass.; 38 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Leroy Fowler of Amesbury, Mass., and Owen Sargent of Haverhill, Mass.; two sisters, Nellie Horr of Bradford, Mass., and Louise Kerley of Bradford, Mass.; and aunts, uncles and cousins.
Calling hours will be Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Lord Funeral Home, 50 Moultonville Road, Center Ossipee. Funeral services will be Monday, 11 a.m. at the Ossipee Valley Bible Church, Route 16, West Ossipee. Burial will be in the Chickville Cemetery, Center Ossipee. Donations may be made to the Hospice of Southern Carroll County, P.O. Box 1620, Wolfeboro, N.H.
