      New Glasgow Charles Chuck MacLean. It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we the family announce the passing of Charles Alexander MacLean, age 87, of North Ave., New Glasgow, on Friday, May 27, 2011 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by his family. Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Alexander and Mary Ellen (McManaman) MacLean. He was retired from Maritime Steel, prior to which he worked for Imperial Oil for a number of years on oil tankers at sea. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church and attended Christ the King Roman Catholic Church. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed attending and watching the sports of his children. He is survived by: daughters: Terry-Anne Gladney, New Glasgow; Debra (Millan Fraser), Churchville; sons: Doane (Brenda), New Glasgow; Phillip (Cindy), New Glasgow; Kevin (Joan), Hopewell; Mark (Marie), Truro; Allie, Peterborough, ON; 17 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; sisters: Mary Carroll, New Glasgow; Margaret McCarron, Trenton; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Phyllis Mae Hoar, brother John. There will be no visitation by request. A private family service will be held with burial in Holy Cross Cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to the Aberdeen Palliative Care Unit or a charity of choice. Arrangements are under the direction of the R.H. Porter Funeral Home.
