      Obituary:
      Foster Hoar
      RIVERTON - Foster Whitman Hoar, age 88 of the Valley View Villa, Riverton, formerly of Hopewell, passed away Feb. 6, 2011 in the Villa.
      Born May 21, 1922 in West River Station, he was a son of the late Howard Whitman and Bertha (Smith) Hoar.
      Foster had been a guest at the Valley View Villa since 1996 having previously resided in Stellarton and Hopewell. He had worked for 10 years with the CNR and had later been self employed in the trucking business for 30 years including White Rose/ Shell Oil throughout the East River Valley. Foster was very active in his community and was a former member of the Masonic Lodge and the Odd Fellows Lodge. He was a member of St. Columba United Church, Hopewell.
      He is survived by sons: Foster Leroy, Springville; Donald Howard (Valena) Hopewell; Charles Irving Arbuckle (Judy), Edmonton; daughter, Betty Ann (Eric) Dwyer, Centredale; nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Doris Pierno, California; brother-in-law, Charles MacLean.
      He was predeceased by his wife the former Mary Elizabeth MacLean, and sister, Phyllis Maclean.
      The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 11, 2011 in the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Chapel, Stellarton. Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in St. Columba United Church, Hopewell, with Rev. Heather Landry officiating. A reception will follow in the church hall. Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery at a later date.
      Family flowers only. Donations in his memory may be made to the Valley View Villa, Riverton, or St. Columba United Church, Hopewell.
