Kistler was born Dec. 28, 1920, in Lewis, to Dora (Kaufman) and Vern Hoar. She was raised in Lewis and graduated from Lewis High School in 1938. She later attended Southwestern College and taught school at Valley View. On Sept. 11, 1942, she married Marvin Kistler in Wichita. They made their first home in Rock. Shortly after her marriage, Kistler was employed by Beech Aircraft in Wichita. In the 1950s the couple moved to Arkansas City where she worked as a receptionist for Dr. James Hill. In 1988 they moved to Mission, Texas, where they resided for 13 years. In 2001 they returned to Winfield. Kistler was a member of the United Methodist Church in Arkansas City, the Levi & Lace Square Dancers and the Winfield Camping Club. A son, Merrill Kistler, preceded her in death. Survivors include her husband, Marvin Kistler, Winfield; a daughter, Marvilyn French, Littleton, Colo.; a brother, Eddie Houston, Redlands, Calif.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. ]]
