      Obituary:
      Aug. 13, 1908-March 23, 1998
      SALEM Noel A. Purkhiser, 89, Salem, died at 12:40 a.m. Monday at Washington County Memorial Hospital, Salem.
      Born in Washington County, he was the son of William and Ethel (Thixton) Purkhiser. He married Helen Hoar, and she survives.
      He was a retired farmer, a former agent for Standard Oil Co., and a former school bus driver for West Washington and Salem schools. He was a member of the Church of Christ and past member of Campbellsburg Lions Club.
      Surviving with the wife are: two daughters: Carolyn Baird of Salem and Nancy Colglazier of Savannah, Ga.; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
      Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Weathers Funeral Home, Salem. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.
      Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 8 a.m. until the service Thursday.
