George Washington Noyes was born in Norway Me. March 13, 1828. His education was that common to farmers. At age 18 he went to Massachusetts and engaged in farming. He began a long connection to railroad interests in 1849 and in 1851 was engaged as a fireman on the Atlantic and St. Lawrence railroad. From 1853 he changed residence to Gorham and ran trains between Gorham and Paris, Me. He married Julia Horr of Norway Me., daughter of Nathan and Amelia [Wood] Horr, on September 19, 1851. Their children are Sarah A., Emma A., George Edwin.

George married Julia Horr on 19 Sep 1851. Julia (daughter of Nathan Horr and Amelia Wood) was born on 13 Jan 1831 in Norway, Oxford Co, Maine, USA; died on 13 Jul 1905 in Gorham, Coos Co, New Hampshire, USA; was buried in South Paris, Oxford Co, Maine, USA (Pine Grove Cemetery). [Group Sheet]
