Park Leslie Bedford
RICHFIELD SPRINGS - Park Leslie Bedford, 84, of Woodside Avenue, died on Sunday, Jan. 3, 1999, in his home.
He was born on Feb. 25, 1914, in Onawa, Iowa, the son of the late James R. and Ethel Hoar Bedford.
He was raised and educated in Iowa and was a graduate of Iowa State University.
On Feb. 10, 1940, he married El"izabeth "Betty" Belshaw in Crownpoint, Ind.
He had worked as an engineer for the Commonwealth Edison Company, Chicago, Illinois., and then went on to Washington, D.C., where he worked in the now defunct Signal Corp. He later worked as chief engineer for the Department of the Army, retiring in 1971. That same year he moved to the village of Springfield Center, where he was a member of the Springfield Center Volunteer Fire Department. He moved to Richfield Springs in 1990, and was a member of the Utica Computer Club.
Surviving him besides his wife of 58 years, Betty, are three children, William Bedford of Thurmont, Md., Catherine Ray of Frederick, Md., and Barbara Shirey of Walawala, Wash.; one sister, Faye Terry of Minneapolis, Minn.; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held later this spring, at a time and place to be announced.
Funeral arrangements are with J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 5 West James St., Richfield Springs.

Wm Hoar was born in Devonshire, England April 2, 1827, died at his home in South Onawa, March 31, 1910. He was married to Elizabeth Dugdale July 17, 1846. They came to America in 1848 living for a short time in New Jersey, Illinois and Eastern Iowa. They came to Monona County in 1880 settling in Mapleton where they remained until four years ago when they came to Onawa.
To this union ten children were born, five sons and five daughters. Four sons and two daughters with the aged wife still survive him.

William married Elizabeth Dugdale on 17 Jul 1846 in England. Elizabeth (daughter of George Dugdale and Grace Angel) was born on 2 Feb 1827 in Devonshire, England; died on 26 Jul 1910 in Onawa, Monona Co, Iowa, USA. [Group Sheet]

Elizabeth Dugdale Hoar

Elizabeth Dugdale was born in Devonshire, England, February 2, 1827. Was married to Wm. Hoar July 17, 1846 to this union there was born ten children, six of whom survive her, the children are: Mrs Louisa Mander and Wm Hoar, both of Walt Hill, Nebraska: Mrs Emily Drummond of Lyons, Nebraska; Charley Hoar of Onawa, Iowa; Ed Hoar of Pender, Nebraska and George Hoar of Columbus, Nebraska all of which were present at her funeral. She died July 26, 1910 about 1 p.m. at the home of her son, Charley, where she has stayed since the death of her aged husband March 31st of the present year. She united with the Episcopal church when a child and remained a firm believer in that church until her death. The funeral was held at the home of her son July 27th conducted by Rev Edwards of the ME Church. She came to America in 1848, stayed in New Jersey a short time, then came to Illinois and afterwards to Iowa, living for a time in Union county then coming to Monona County in 1880. They lived about 25 years in Mapleton, but have lived in the southern part of Onawa the last two years. She has a sister and brother still in England and a brother in Illinois.
